Community Development
The community outreach team in DSI Facilitate women Self Help Groups (SHG) in villages especially in Irular community Block. Interactive Monthly women meeting from villages empower them with the knowledge of legal rights community health, nutrition and education for their children and so on. We aim at Sustainable development for the women and for them to be economically independent.
DSI facilitates community development projects in Irular villages such as Kollamedu, Madur and Malalinatham. Some of the projects are Herbal Garden at Kollamedu village, provision of bore well, reconstruction of houses at Malalinatham and providing free land for living for landless people of the Irular community.
About 70 children from Kollamedu, have been enrolled in our school. They are provided free education, free books and note books and uniform, all stationary, free midday meals, evening snacks and extra coaching classes and also free transport facilities. About 17 children of them who have not taken proper care at their houses have been admitted to the DSI home.
